The brief

A full custom-carpentry and furnishing fit-out covering the kitchen, the living and dining feature wall, a pantry and bar counter, a wine display niche, and the master bedroom wardrobe. The direction was a calm, contemporary palette of soft greys, taupe and stone that still felt personal rather than a generic show-flat scheme.

The challenge

The living area sits under a higher ceiling with a void above it, so the feature wall and pendant lighting had to read correctly from both sitting and standing sightlines. The kitchen and bar zones also had to fit a full appliance run (fridge, oven, hob, hood) into a fairly tight footprint without the cabinetry looking crowded. And with such a neutral, low-contrast base palette, there was a real risk of the finished home reading as flat or impersonal if nothing broke it up.

Scope of works

Custom carpentry across the kitchen (upper and lower cabinetry, integrated appliances, stone countertop and backsplash), a pantry and bar island, a full-height TV feature wall with backlit display niches, a dedicated wine display niche, and the master bedroom wardrobe. Paired with marble-effect stone cladding on the taller feature wall, cove and strip LED lighting built into the TV wall and niches, and a pendant-lighting drop through the void.

What we decided, and why

The TV wall as the room's main gesture
A full-height, horizontal-slat cabinetry wall with a recessed backlit niche around the screen and a matching open display niche beside it, so it reads as one composition instead of "screen plus storage".

A dead sliver of wall became the wine display
A slim vertical niche near the pantry was converted into a built-in wine display, turning wasted wall into a feature.
